•  Take Flight contains the five components of effective reading instruction:  Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Fluency, and Reading Comprehension. With Take Flight, students will learn all
•  44 sounds of the English language, 
• 96 letter–sound correspondence rules, and 
• 87 affixes. 

The student will also learn 

• spelling rules for base words and derivatives. 
• Practice opportunities are also provided that are designed to improve oral reading fluency. 
•  Comprehension and vocabulary-building strategies for narrative and expository text in the context of oral reading exercises to prepare students for successful, independent reading. 

 A K-1 Early Reading Intervention addresses five specific components of reading intervention. Each component is taught developmentally using a direct, systematic, cumulative, multisensory method of introduction and practice to meet the specific needs of Kindergarten and first-grade students struggling with reading. The five components are

•  Alphabet: the identification of letters, sequencing skills, and alphabetizing. 
• Letter/sound knowledge: the direct instruction of individual letters and sounds, leading to the practice of reading words and sentences.
•  Phonological awareness: explicitly introducing the relationships between speech-sound production, from rhyme to spelling. 
•  Vocabulary: the direct teaching of strategies using context clues to infer the meaning of unfamiliar words.
•  Comprehension: the explicit teaching of specific learning strategies used to identify the essential components of a story. 

 Scientific Spelling addresses specific spelling needs; students improve their accuracy and learn how to spell for a lifetime. In Scientific Spelling, students learn how to analyze spelling errors. Instruction is planned to target students’ specific needs in:

• Phonemic awareness;
• Reliable spelling patterns and rules; and
• Strategies for learning words with unexpected Spelling

•  Reading by Design is a systematic, explicit, and intensive reading program
• routine w designed for students with fundamental reading difficulties, such as dyslexia. 
• Design for remediation of reading and writing skills at all grade levels. 
• Includes all of the components of instruction and instructional approaches 

 Reading Readiness, participants learn:

• The foundational skills that are necessary to become fluent readers and accurate spellers;
• Hands-on, multisensory activities to teach and reinforce these skills;
• Strategies for building instant recognition of words with reliable and unexpected pronunciations; and
• The importance of explicit and systematic handwriting instruction to spelling and writing

•  multisensory structured language approach for reading, writing, and spelling. 
• The Esperanza program aims to provide a multisensory, sequential, systematic approach to achieving Spanish literacy.
